Review: La Oruga Muy Hambrienta

This classic, by Eric Carle, is done justice in a beautiful Spanish translation. The language is poetic, but sparse, as in the original. And Spanish speakers from both Latin America and Spain should approve of language free of regional idiom. In either English or Spanish, the collage-style illustrations, and short, layered pages with holes punched where the caterpillar has munched his way through, come most alive in the board book.
